Superman and Lois is a new show on the CW (starring Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Inde Navarrette, Adam Rayner, Erik Valdez, Dylan Walsh , and Emmanuelle Chriqui). This is the latest live action version of the Man of Steel / Krypton's last son. Or then again, in this show, is he really the last son of Krypton? The story here is that Clark Kent and Lois Lane are now married with two sons (twins) named Jonathan and Jordan (who are named after Jonathan "Pa" Kent and Jor-el). These sons grow up without powers and unaware that their father is Superman. Jonathan grows up popular and athletic, while Jordan has anxiety problems. Then one day when the family is visiting Smallville after Martha "Ma" Kent passes away, Jordan learns that he is developing super powers while his athletic brother is not. And both sons soon learn that their father is Superman. It includes Clark (Kal-el) bringing Jordan to the Fortress of Solitude to meet with Jor-el, and learns about Kryptonian heritage. It also has the Kent family moving back to the old Kent farm in Smallville, and meeting Lana Lang and her daughter Sarah Cushing. It has plenty of scenes about the Smallville Crowsa (the High School football team) making this show very reminiscent of past stories about young Clark Kent growing up in Smallville. I won't get into all that here.
Is this show a spin-off of Supergirl and set in the Arrowverse? Do these characters co-exist on the same Earth as that Kara, the Flash, Arrow, Batwoman, and all the characters on Legends? Is this Superman a part of the Justice League team we've seen forming in crossovers? Initially, it seems that way when you consider that Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch have already played Clark Kent / Superman and Lois Lane on the Supergirl show. But after looking at both shows closely and doing some comparisons, I have questions about that.
How good is Tyler Hoechlin in the role of Clark Kent / Superman? How does he compare to actors who have played Superman in the past - such as Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, John Haymes Newton, Gerard Christopher, Dean Cain, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill? I go over my thoughts on that in this video. Although I don't think my comparison counts for actors like Tom Welling or Jeff East. Nor Cameron Cuffe.
