This video is NOT targeted at kids under the age of 13.

Darryl Vidal (also known as Grand Master Darryl Vidal, and Vidal Kenpo) is a 10th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate. For decades, he has been continuously building upon his impressive resume in many different martial arts. He is now one of the most respected karate teachers in the world... Back in 1984, he appeared in the classic film the Karate Kid, in which he played a character with his real name, who fought Johnny Lawrence in the All Valley Karate Tournament's Semi-Final (representing the Locust Valley Karate Club). Vidal was also the stunt double for Pat Morita when we saw Mr. Miyagi practicing the crane kick on the beach.

Vidal was nice enough to do an interview for my YouTube channel. I tried to focus the interview mostly on his take of the realism of the Karate seen in the movie: the accuracy of the All Valley Karate Tournament, the reliability of the crane kick, his take on whether or not the crane kick is legal to use in a tournament (as Johnny has denied on Cobra Kai), comparing Mr. Miyagi and Kreese to his real-life Sensei (Joe Rosas). I also asked him about other martial arts films (and his answers include references to Bruce Lee, Enter the Dragon, Jackie Chan, The Big Brawl, Steven Seagal, Above the Law, Aikido, Judo, Jujutsu, Kung Fu, Ip Man, Donnie Yen, Lyoto Machida, Randy Couture, and much more), as well as whether or not he'd like to appear on Cobra Kai. He also mentions how you can contact him if you'd like him to teach you Kenpo Karate or Eskrima (a Filipino stick fighting). So please give this video a watch, and please leave your comments below. Thank you.

And for anyone who doesn't know: the Karate Kid is a classic movie from 1984 starring Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence and Martin Kove as Sensei John Kreese. Directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Robert Mark Kamen. In 1986, there was The Karate Kid II, which had Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, and Danny Kamekona as Sato. In 1989, there was The Karate Kid Part III, which had Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes, and Robyn Lively as Jessica Andrews. In 1994, there was The Next Karate Kid, which starred Hilary Swank as Julie Pierce and Michael Ironside as Colonel Dugan. In 2018, a TV series called Cobra Kai was started - which brought back many of the original cast members reprising their roles, as well as newcomers Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz , Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Jacob Bertrand as Eli 'Hawk' Moskowitz, and Peyton List as Tory Nichols.
