Workshops, mentorship programs, and private training sessions are awesome. They help us to develop more skill, learn more techniques, and grow our confidence. But what they won’t do, is actually help us implement what we’ve learned. I’ve found that time blocking is an incredibly useful tool to help me execute the plan I’ve developed to help rehabilitate a dog. Scheduling out 10 to 15 minute training sessions throughout the day, keeps me honest and consistent. Those sessions become nonnegotiable, like many other things that I would never dream of not showing up for. “Stacking” a training session on top of another chore or event that is non-negotiable, is an amazing way to show up for ourselves and our dogs.
