Last night, over 2 million people watched as ‘Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story’ aired on ITV1. In the moving documentary viewers saw Derek talk bravely on camera and Kate opened up about her struggle to afford Derek’s ongoing care costs, about £16,000 a month - just to cover his basic needs. Christine was shocked to discover how hard the social care system is to navigate and Kelly admits that if she were to get ill, she wouldn’t know what care she could afford or would be entitled to. Plus, Katie argues that the phrase ‘health is wealth’ should actually be banned as she sees it as toxic.
