Vagus Nerve is the 10th cranial nerve. Longest nerve in the body.
**Parasympathetic-rest and digest system.
**Carries information about pain, touch and temperature from throat, inner and outer ear and meninges.
**Plays small role in taste and slows heart rate
**Receives sensory information from internal organs in the neck, chest and abdomen.
**Controls muscles in pharynx, soft palate and larynx-involved in speaking and swallowing.
**Stress, anxiety and PTSD, gastroparesis

Clinical Signs:
**Lack of a gag reflex or diminishing gag reflex
**Difficulty swallowing, deviation of uvula away from side of damage, GI problems.
**Early signs for Lewy Body dementia and Parkinson’s Disease, neurodegeneration.

Stimulating the Vagus Nerve:
1. Gargle-Vigorously gargle several glass of water per day.
2. Sing loudly
3. Gag-brushing your teeth and hitting the back of the throat or use a tongue blade. Several time per day.
4. Coffee enemas-distends the intestines activating the vagus nerve. Stimulates intestinal motility by acting on the cholinergic receptors.

Other things to do.
