00:00 - Healthy vs unhealthy friendships
#DrSuri shares how #friends impact your happiness and mental health. But even more importantly, friendships impact your personality and self concepts. #ToxicFriends impact your thinking and your habits. Which is why, it becomes important to know the signs of healthy friends vs unhealthy friends.

00:52 - Good time friends
These are the friends who keep you around for fun times, but when you need emotional support, they are not there. Every healthy friendship needs social support, and friends who only want you for good times are not your real friends. They are fake friends.

01:27 - Friends who use you emotionally
These are the friends who use you emotionally. They seek emotional support and comfort from you, but want to be there for you when you need help. Healthy friendships are balanced and equal. These are selfish friends, who want you to support them, but don't want to reciprocate your care and love. You need to especially watch out for such toxic friends if you have a tendency to help others. They can take advantage of your empathy and caring nature.

02:09 - Two faced friends
These are the friends who act different when you are around them, but behind your back, they talk bad things about you. You can't trust such toxic friendships, because they don't care about you. Their words and actions are meaningless, but worse, they are not trustworthy.

Real friends will tell you not only good things, but also difficult feedback. Instead of always telling you what you want to hear, true friends tell you what you need to hear.

02:44 - Manipulative friends
Manipulative friends make you feel guilty about not always doing what they want. Such toxic friendships are not balanced, because you feel like walking on egg shells. When you disagree with them, you will feel anxious. Dr Suri share examples of how manipulative friends take advantage of others. Such manipulations are deceptive and disrespectful in any friendship.

03:41 - Mean friends
Mean friends are toxic people who pretend to care about you, but are always critical and make you doubt yourself. They criticize you, which damages your self-concepts and confidence. Good friends are supportive and caring, and even when they give you difficult feedback, they do so with warmth and love. Mean friends only make fun of you - which is a red flag of a toxic friendship.
