There's three easy self-tests for rotator cuff tendon tears. One is if you have pain when coming up somewhere in about this range, it could even hurt all the way up. Then you probably have a rotator cuff tear. Could be other things. But two, if you reach behind your back this way and it starts to hurt there, too. That's more evidence that you have a rotator cuff problem.

And three, if you just go and poke the edges of that, both, there is the acromion right off the edge of the acromion. This part of the bone of the shoulder blade is where the rotator cuff tendons. So on your body, if you just get on to your shoulder, there's my acromion that can feel the bony edge and maybe just fall a little far away from it, just described below it.

And you poke there all around the edges of it. And then you compare that with your other side. If the side that you have the tear on is very tender and there's usually one spot, maybe a few spots that are very tender that's consistent with a rotator cuff tear.
