The Quran and the life example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) offer guidance about how war should be conducted. Dr. Shabir Ally finds alignment between just war theory, established by Jewish and Christian thinkers, and Islamic prescriptions about war. See for example Quran 2:190, 22:39-40, 47:4. The Prophet Muhammad tried to enter into treaties, engaged in war defensively, and was careful about protecting civilians. Dr. Shabir looks at Israel's onslaught on Gaza and shows how just war theory has been disregarded and the value of preserving human life ignored.
