The Quran discusses the children of Israel extensively. God rescued them from the domination of the Pharaoh, bestowed favours on them, chose them, and provided for them as they roamed the desert looking for the promised land. The Quran presents them as an example of a people to whom God sent prophets and messengers and gave scriptures. Muslims are warned not to fall into the same error as previous people now that they are tasked with carrying out God’s commands and following His prescriptions.
