"Is punishment in Hell eternal or finite?" Dr. Shabir Ally responds to this question from a viewer. He explains that for a long time, he held the simplistic view that Hell was forever. But he asks us to consider what that means for our understanding of God. Does it align with God's kindness and mercy to think of God watching people burning forever? Dr. Shabir says that important scholars in history said that Hell was temporary. He cites Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, who argues that Paradise is forever but Hell isn't, and Dr. Shabir describes some of his arguments.
