With EDS, you have to understand that your life is going to be constant pain. When I was a kid, I went to church on my own at 8-years-old, and the preacher said that pain is life and life will be full of pain. What we experience here is going to try us to be tested when we get to heaven. Okay... So that explained my pain in this life. I was nearly 40 years old when I found out that not everyone in this world is in pain 24/7 and it still blows my mind! People live without pain? Then I grieved the entirety of my life because I always wondered why I couldn't do things other people could do easily or why when I take a couple steps on my hike, I have to sit down because my 'feet went out' and I have to wait until they feel better to walk on them. Like... Every little detail of my life was reviewed and I was severely depressed for a couple of years. KNOWING that you will be in pain your entire life and WHY you will be in pain, is VERY important. I want my kids to know the truth and know everything about their body so they can manage themselves and their daily injuries that are most certainly will have every day in their future, due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. This isn't something to hide from the kids, and I won't!
