Since the 1970s, thousands of children have been adopted to Australia from overseas and had to adjust to a new family, culture, language, and life. On this episode of Insight, former host Jenny Brockie delves into the diverse experiences of individuals adopted from various countries, exploring how their unique journeys have shaped them. Guests include Vashti, adopted at 5 days old from Hawaii by Australian parents. Shaun, adopted from Korea at six months old and raised in a predominately white town in Victoria. Beti, born in Ethiopia and adopted at three due to her mother’s illness, along with her non-biological sister Hanna. Rohan, part of Operation Babylift from Vietnam and adopted by a Sri Lanken father and English mother. Wendy, adopted from Korea as a baby and still only has limited knowledge about her biological mother. Anna, adopted from the Philippines, who often dreamed of meeting her birth mother as a child.
