In the present day, Sprite lives with Sersi in London as she works as a museum curator with a romantic interest in her colleague Dane Whitman. One night, when Sersi, Sprite, and Whitman leave his birthday party, they are attacked by Kro the Deviant. Whitman helps people get off the bridge as Sprite creates illusions to distract Kro. Ikaris arrives just in time and saves them.

After the Deviant leaves, Whitman awkwardly introduces himself to Ikaris and asks Sersi to explain everything about the Eternals. He questions why they never interfered throughout history or, more recently, with Thanos and the Infinity War.

[About Dane Whitman]
Professor Dane Whitman, also Black Knight, is a scientist and historian who works at London's Natural History Museum and is the heir to an ancient and mysterious family. Whitman starts a romantic relationship with Sersi, who turns out to be Eternal. When she learns of the impending Emergence, she encourages him to make amends with his uncle, leading him to investigate his family's history. After Sersi's abduction from Earth by Arishem the Judge, Whitman falls into the possession of the Ebony Blade.

[About Kro the Deviant]
Kro is the leader of the Deviants. He came to Earth thousands of years ago but was trapped in ice while the rest of his kind were exterminated by the Eternals. Due to glacial melting as a side effect of the impeding Emergence of Tiamut the Communicator, Kro becomes free, kills Ajak, gains wisdom never before experienced by a Deviant, and begins hunting down the Eternals for more power and also for revenge. Kro follows the Eternals as they try to stop the Emergence, but Thena ultimately kills him when he tries to absorb her powers.
