Here I make a knife out of recycled parts. The blade steel, the handle scales and the pins were all going to be thrown out. The steel is an old 10 inch circular saw blade. The scales are made from HDPE bottle caps melted together into a block and the pins are made from the stainless steel shaft between the handle and the scoop on a melon baller. It was a joy to make but the HDPE was a bit of a pain to shape and finish nicely.
