Thought I would show how I flatten an Oil Stone. This is great if you need to restore a sharpening stone. This method works for man made oil stones and for Arkansas stones. Don't use this method for water stone unless the dish is absurdly big. I would also recommend a finer sandpaper to finish off though once it is flat for the Arkansas stones. But use this method to get it back in shape.
If you have ever passed up a cheap stone because it is dished now you know one way to fix it. It is also a great way to get your old stones back in shape if they have been neglected.
