"Faith seeks understanding," said St. Anselm. During the Middle Ages, two medieval monks argued that belief in God was rational. St Thomas Aquinas argued that God is reasonable because there must be at least one non-contingent thing. But St. Anselm argued that the very definition of the word "God" implies existence, in his famous "Ontological Argument."
