Today we tell you everything we know so far about 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4!

The day many of us have all been waiting for has arrived! The legendary Countach has finally come back to life again. We said goodbye to Countach 30 years ago but the Italian manufacturer is bringing the iconic car back. The legacy of Lamborghini Countach grew with time just like a fine wine. If you want to learn all about the new Countach and then some more please stay tuned.
Countach is a car of legends even the origin of its name is shrouded in mystery for many years but Marcello Gandini, the designer of the Countach, finally explained the origin of the name:
“When we made cars for the car shows, we worked at night and we were all tired, so we would joke around to keep our morale up. There was a profiler working with us who made the locks. He was two meters tall with two enormous hands, and he performed all the little jobs. He spoke almost only Piedmontese and didn't even speak Italian. Piedmontese is much different from Italian and sounds like French. One of his most frequent exclamations was ‘countach’, which literally means plague, contagion, and is actually used more to express amazement or even admiration, like ‘goodness’. I said we could call it Countach, just as a joke, and now here we are.”
Lamborghini rarely has trouble selling its limited-edition models, and while the Countach LPI 800-4 is heavily based on the Sián (and thus the Aventador), that hasn't deterred some very wealthy collectors from paying $2.64 million.
The legendary designer Marcello Gandini said “After the Countach was created, it completely changed the balance of the entire supercar market. This also applies to our limits and our attitude.” The Countach became a legendary car in the early 70s and nothing was the same after it. It didn't take long for this car to become a legend. Taking its design vision from the 70s space aesthetic and whisking us to the times of the classic American cars of the Harley Earl era, the Countach has come back to life. The 2022 Lamborghini Countach was first seen through the leaked images, before its presentation.
The new version, which is known as the Countach LPI 800-4, will be a car developed based on the Aventador infrastructure. The hexagonal-shaped panels, which we are accustomed to from today's Lambo models, are striking. There are small design touches made all over the Countach which references the classic model by the brand designers. The front part of the car especially pays homage to the original Countach. The rear part is largely inspired by Sian's aesthetic.
From a design point, it is retro and modern at the same time.
On the inside of the new Countach model, there are 3D-printed air vents. It has a great-looking photochromic glass roof. The glass roof's transparency can be adjusted with the help of a button.
The supercar has specially designed seats, geometric stitching, and square motif details on the dashboard; transforming it into a flagship model with a retro inspiration.
The model was conceived as a forward-looking "descendant" of the 1974 Countach car, rather than an unimaginative imitation of the older model. Because it also smoothly incorporates inspirations from the current Lamborghini design language, such as triple hexagonal LED taillights.
On the retro features side, it features a shallow glass pane along the sides, reminiscent of the original, black NACA inlets. However, the "Periscopio" lines extending from the roof of the Countach to the back look very nice. In addition, trapezoidal tail lamp housings and deep side details prove that they are indeed inspired by the old Countach model.
The model, whose nose directly resembles the original Countach, regrettably, does not use the legendary retractable headlights. However, it is possible to say that the light sets arranged instead mimic this image - in a way. When we look at the vehicle from the profile, the air ducts located just behind the door are designed beautifully. The vertical vents here emphasize the retro look, while the wide air duct brings the supercar much closer to modern Lamborghinis. Of course, iconic scissor doors are also included in this near-perfect equation.
But we can see that Lamborghini goes one step further in terms of "staying true to the iconic Countach". One important example is Lamborghini's typical 20-inch wheels at the front and 21 inches at the rear which were first seen on the LP400 S models. The fabled wheelsets have become the Countach's most remembered, typical style over time. The wheelset has also found a place in the new generation of Countach.
The supercar has Lamborghini's most advanced power technology. Countach boasts a 6.5-liter, V12 hybrid-powered engine. Lamborghini had previously used this engine in the Sian hypercar. With this engine, the new Countach model has 803 horsepower.
