George Walton Lucas Jr. was born on May 14, 1944.
As a teenager, Lucas was obsessed with car racing.
However on June 12, 1962, then 17-year-old George Lucas was driving his Fiat Bianchina home to northern Modesto. His classmate, Frank Ferreira, attempted to pass him at a high speed and smashed into the small Fiat. The car flipped several times before crashing into a tree. Lucas was thrown from the car and survived with minor fractures and hemorrhaging lungs.
This incident changed the dream of George Lucas and he decided to become a filmmaker
After completing his graduate degree in film at the University of Southern California, Lucas set out to make movies.
On March 11, 1971, Lucas film, THX 1138 was released to theaters but it was a commercial flop, earning back only $945,000 in rentals for Warner Bros.
George Lucas however won’t give up on his filmmaking dream. he went on from that failure to create some of the most successful movies in the history of the world
