The electric SUV marketplace is booming in 2021 and two of the latest are the Skoda Enyaq iV and the Mercedes EQA. Both cost around the same but both are very different takes on electric SUV life – the Mercedes has taken its petrol and diesel powered GLA, slotted in an electric motor and battery and renamed it EQA, while the Enyaq is Skoda's first bespoke electric car with a unique body and VW ID.3 underpinnings.

So, which is best? A tried and tested formula that's been converted to electric or a clean-sheet-of-paper approach? Tom Ford and Nicki Shields finds out.
