The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most impressive electric cars on sale today, but is it good enough to sway you away from a premium SUV such as the Mercedes EQA? In this CarGurus UK review Vicky Parrott puts these two electric cars head-to-head in order to find out, comparing range, performance, practicality, technology, ride, handling and more.

In terms prices, at the time of writing the Hyundai starts at well under £40,000 for the entry-level, 58kWh SE Connect model, which gets an official WLTP range of 238 miles. But most buyers will go for the bigger battery, 73kWh model tested in this video. It starts at around £42,000 and will do 298 miles in between charges. That's not far off the Mercedes EQA 250’s £44,500 starting price, while if you go for a PCP finance deal the monthly payments on the Mercedes might even work out cheaper than those on the Hyundai. For that, the EQA 250 offers up to 263 miles of range from its 66.5kWh battery.
