Updated version is here:    • How I Met Your Mother - Holding On an...

This is mostly in chronological order (as in seasons 1-8 but there are flashbacks and the scenes aren't really in the exact order...). I tried to get the most important aspects of the show in here. Been wanting to vid this song for a while:)

*Song: "Holding On and Letting Go" by Ross Copperman
*Program: Sony Vegas Pro 11

Voiceovers:

Barney: "You're not happy. And you know why? Because you're different."

Marshall: "We could by an apartment, send our kids to good schools. I know you say you don't need it, but I love you and I wanna give it to you anyway."

Ted: "I can't do this anymore. I need an answer."

Ted: "I don't want perfect. I want Robin."

Robin: "Then I guess it's not meant to be."

Marshall: "Three months ago you broke my heart. This was the worst summer of my life. I've missed you so much."

Ted: "Wait! We have one more idea for you."

Robin: "No."

Ted: "Will you marry me?"

Barney: "I broke it. I'm sorry."

Ted: "You could've died. We're brothers."

Marshall: "I'm a lawyer."

Barney: "Apparently I'm gonna be a dad."

Ted: "And damnit if it wasn't the best year of my life."

Marshall: "I became a lame corporate sellout."

Ted: "I forgot what it's like to chase the real thing. I think I'm ready again."

Ted: "And last year, he fell in love."

Ted: "Now she's one of my closest friends."

Ted: "5 years ago you never would have chosen love over your career. But today you did."

Lily: "You and your dad both care so much. It's why women fall in love with the Eriksen men to begin with."

Marshall: "I'm not ready for this."

Barney: "You're just some lame suburban dad!"

Dad: "Why does that make you so mad?"

Barney: "Because if you were gonna be some lame suburban dad, why couldn't you have been that for me?"

Robin: "No matter how bad things got, Ted really did love Zoey for a minute there, didn't he?"

Barney: "He did."

Barney: Oh my God, it's Nora!"

Ted: "But there was one thing your aunt Robin never was. She was never alone."
