Black holes are one of the most fascinating objects in the universe, yet they are one of the least explored. This is because they are so extreme that they are hard to produce, and much of the information we could get from them is instead swallowed up by the black hole instead. Yet there is still some hope beyond making better telescopes. Scientists are finding ways to use atoms to construct quantum objects that behave in a similar way to blackhole event horizons. This allows us to explore the physics of these objects on a small scale, which will hopefully lead us to understand these objects more on a grand scale.
