Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

The First of May greeted Giga Texas with low clouds misty skies and rain off and on during my drone flight, but that didn't dampen the activity nor the VIP Megapack official commissioning and media event getting underway this morning.

Most of the big activity on the site today was on the south end, where the extension construction site was crawling with all kinds of crews busy completing their portions of the process. On the west side, we see crews opening up parts of the old exterior wall and windows on the second floor, effectively the first part of the building to be open and accessible to both the original and now new part of the main factory.

We also see about 50% of the steel assembly in the open area between the two structures is now installed, wile additional ground slab work is underway under the new extension. The huge glass panels have had many more installed, now nearing the southwest angled corner of the new extension, while another large section of roofing material has been installed.
Also on the south end, the SE structural cooling tower platform construction continues at a fast pace, with half of the roof now poured in concrete, and the other half finishing form and rebar installation.

Some additional highlights from today are:

Cybertruck production seems to be sustained at the near-1K per week rate, and we see inventory changing out daily as transport trucks pickup and move many off site, while more are exiting the factory and being staged temporarily on the east old testing lot and the new north lot for the west support facility. We also see nearly 10 Cybertrucks parked at the crash testing facility just east of the battery cathode plant. This suggests additional crash testing is underway while other Tesla Models including the Y and S appear to have been tested recently.

The trenching and conduit installation at the south end of the electrical switchyard seems to be rapidly getting completed, as most of the trenches and conduit have been covered by dirt. Farther south, a 90 degree turn for this conduit extends west under the powerlines and then joins another southwards conduit bank that proceeds towards the northeast corner of the casting structure, where we see crews busy excavating around two installed conduit boxes that have conduit holes visible. No doubt all this conduit will connect from the casting section to the south end of the new electrical switchyard.

The Boring Company continues to make progress with tunneling, and the last part of the installed gantry that was just visible inside the exposed portion of the tunnel on my previous video is no longer visible, showing it has moved many meters into the tunnel! We see a crew member walking into the tunnel and disappearing without slowing down, so another great indication progress is being made.
