In this video I will be restoring a vintage record 84 vice. When I saw this vice I knew it was my job to give it a new lease of life.
Since I have so many different vices I decided to make this one a bit special. Seeing that it didn’t come with jaws I took the opportunity to make soft copper jaws. In addition I decided to go agains what I usually do and polish as many parts as possible. After many hours of sanding by hand I was rather pleased with the outcome. I understand the perfectly polished parts will eventually get damaged but that’s just part of the fun (using it). The final part for this restoration was paint. After some searching I managed to find the correct paint code for record tools and a company that sells the paint. Now that I have the correct record paint I will be restoring all my vices properly.
