The Joshua Tree exhibit is collaboration between Julie Joynt and David Groth. Both our visions are unique and at the same time complement one another. Joshua Tree National Park is captivating in its massive beauty -- we camp there in January and February, far from the scorching desert heat of the summer sun. We experience sometimes storms of rain, hail or sleet along with bright sunny days and cold starry nights. As soon as we set off into the desert we are energized by the environment and climb and explore on foot or by bicycle (1970's collapsible Raleigh's with reinforced desert-thorn-proof inner-tubes). We are both passionate about taking pictures capturing the essence of the place as we see it, as excited about each other's photos as our own; Sometimes even sharing a camera, while eagerly chomping at the bit to have the camera back in our hands. It is partly our lack of competition and mutual appreciation for how the other sees that brings us further. Very early we realized the similarity and compatibility of our vision through the lens of a camera. We learn from and encourage each other. Choosing the compact digital camera allows great freedom of movement: the camera is there and readily accessible yet not dominating every action. These photographs are the original format allowing you to see through our eyes. This group of photographs were chosen because they express the sights that so inspired our excitement.
