Milton Friedman, I heard his name for the first time when I was in college form a professor, and I thought his work was something I would never read without being forced.

1. Capitalism and freedom
- Capitalism is a free market
- Where the best way for a person to satisfy their desires Is to create a product or service to sell to other people voluntarily
- This way you get paid money, and those people get what they want and the circle continues. ( and if you use force then it won't create any more wealth )

For example:
- Henry Ford, he might have not invented for the public interest, but by chasing his personal interest
- He also affects the public interest of people and you can see this happening today also

The way I see it:
- Capitalism is a free market of voluntary exchange with buying and selling
- And the power to have a competitive market
- And the ability to own private property.

Freedom:
- Give people the ability to do what they want as long as it does not take away the freedom of another person or hurt them
- A society cant work without some rules, because if you have complete freedom to come over to my yard and hurt me, then you are taking away my freedom
- So freedom is limited to you and you not taking away someone else freedom.

has to allow a man to make the correct division from themselves also
- Forcing people to buy an annuity for social security and old age
- Which then creates a monopoly

2. The Proper Role of Government
- The government and state exist to serve its citizens and not the other way around.
- National Defense: its something the entire nation needs ( majority rules, to speed up the process)
- Protect its citizens and their property rights from harm
- But the most important role is to step in when something can not be solved just with a free market.

Good example I saw on youtube:
- is you have a plant that is emitting smoke and it's dirtying your clothes and it's not allowing you to breath
- well the company can continue if there is no regulation but obviously its imposing on your freedom
- so the government can step in and regulate but keep mind the government does have to collect taxes, so in a way, it also leaves a trace.

Now here is some bad example:
A lot of the policies that the government has enacted with good intentions have had the opposite results
- nothing causes more harm than good intention

- For example: creating public housing in order to help against juveniles and crime, but instead, have created a mix of people that share those similarities that have then increase the crimes
- A suggestion would be, instead of creating subsidize housing why not just give those people in need a check to use as they like ( some may say they may use it for the wrong reason, but that’s not the point ) - how do you determine the number of people that would or would not

3. Laissez fair versus the visible hand
- a free market in a lot of ways adjusted its self and it allows people to make mistakes
- However when the government dips its hands into a thing for good intention, usually it forces people to act against what they want, in the idea that it will help the general public but oftentimes it has the opposite effects
- for example taxes: instead of having a fix tax rate for everything they’ve made it progressive which has then created loopholes for wealthier people to expose
- The government for certain reasons, like military and collecting taxes - and for taking care of monopolies in some cases
- However, it has to allow private companies to emerge to take care of the needs of people
