The newly introduced Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance two-door coupe is generating excitement as a notable newcomer to the car world. This vehicle features hybrid technology, termed E Performance by Mercedes-AMG, which includes a powerful mix of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine paired with an electric motor. Combined, they deliver a substantial 805 horsepower, with the engine alone providing 603 horsepower. The torque is particularly striking, reaching a maximum of 1,047 pound-feet, enabling the car to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. This makes it the fastest AMG model so far.

Despite its hybrid designation, the car does not focus heavily on fuel efficiency, as it uses a rather small 6.1 kWh battery. Mercedes has chosen not to release the electric-only range yet, instead highlighting the battery’s role in boosting performance by keeping it at the ideal temperature for optimal power output. The battery can be charged via a standard plug or through different recovery settings, which include an option that replicates the regenerative braking found in electric vehicles.

The car’s formidable power is managed by a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and is distributed through the Mercedes-AMG 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. Typically, the electric motor powers just the rear axle, but it has the capability to also direct power to the front axle to assist with traction control. Standard equipment includes rear-axle steering, AMG Active Ride Control suspension to enhance stability, and strong carbon ceramic brakes equipped with six-piston calipers at the front.

In terms of appearance, the E Performance model looks similar to the standard AMG GT63 but features unique badges and a subtly located charging port. Inside, the car maintains the high-quality 2+2 seating setup familiar in Mercedes-AMG vehicles.

Information on the pricing of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance coupe will be made available closer to its market debut, slated for the end of 2024.
