Making a welcome return south would come Locomotive Services' West Country no 34046 'Braunton' at the head of a "Steam Dreams Excursion" from London Paddington to Chichester & return with an out and back afternoon run from Chichester to Southampton included, on Sunday 18th September 2022

Friday 16th September would see 34046 move from Crewe to Southall with its stock for the weekend (this comprising the Statesman set), seen flying down the WCML at Bletchley (with apologies for the microphone buzz in the process)

2 days later and 'Braunton' with an appropriate wreath in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II would set out for the south coast, the outward journey seen charging through Hedge End, with diesel haulage taking one leg of the afternoon trip, 34046 would be at the head on the Southampton-Chichester section, seen powering up the gradient towards Swanwick, the diesel on the rear gives a slight assistance on the final section of the gradient

Finally in the fading light 34046 breaks the silence (just before the 1 minute silence began in memory of the late Queen) at Micheldever on he return leg back to London, heading along former LSWR metals making a fine sight!
