Community of Christ and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints jointly announced the transfer of the KIRTLAND TEMPLE yesterday in a historic announcement - along with other significant historical properties and artifacts.Â
For any type of church historyâ, this new MONUMENTAL.Â
For myself being an outsider looking in, a church nomad of sorts who has never been a Latter-day Saint member but have attended various Restoration churchesâ - I'm absolutely stunned.
For those who may not be Mormon/Latter-day Saintâ-âThe Kirtland Temple was THEE very first temple built by the early Latter-day Saint pioneers in Kirtland, Ohio. This dates back to LDS prophet, Joseph Smith, when construction started when the movement was just a two-three years since it began.
Due to various persecutions, the Latter-day Saints movedâ-âleaving the ownership of the Temple to be juggled for years until The Community of Christ became OWNED/CARED for the Kirtland Temple for over a century.Â
This was considered PRICELESS. Until yesterday (March 5, 2024).
In this video, I archive some thoughts about this historic deal.
