The Forest Dale Chapel in Salt Lake City felt like a step back in time of Latter-day Saint history.

The chapel was built across the street from Brigham Young's farmhouse in the 19th century. Eventually, the land was bought and a ward was founded. In 1901, plans for the initial building went haywire when the original architect was arrested for the death of his debtor, creating a murder mystery that reached as far as the New York Times. Original building plans were scrapped, and a new architect was selected who focused on a classical dome - something that is uncommon among Latter-day Saint chapels today.

After speaking with some younger and senior members of this church, you couldn't help but appreciate the sense of pride this congregation had for its past. Before leaving, a member showed a framed photograph of their Sunday school from over a century ago. The faces of the men, women, and children was a testament of the sacrifices and dedication that has passed through multiple generations.
