Professor Aziz Sancar, the first Turk to be awarded the Nobel prize in sciences, has decided to dedicate the award to Atatürk due to “his miraculous achievements and contributions to the development of science and education in Turkey.” Professor Sancar stated “The real owner of this prize is Atatürk and the Republic of Turkey. Therefore, I am donating this medal to Anıtkabir so that it be displayed there.”
