I was asked a great question the other day.
And that was, how can someone who is selfless in a selfish environment encourage others to be more selfless? The short answer is, we can lead by example. That can make a huge difference, but it can be lonely and difficult. It is normally easier if we can also utilise the resources around us.

I think that HR departments can make huge difference. And so in an attempt to give a fuller answer to the question, and also look at an extreme situation where not only may the leader be selfless, but they could in fact exhibit some or all of the traits of the Dark Triad;
Machiavellianism, Psychopathy and Narcissism - what can be done?

Quite specifically, what can a high functioning HR department do in such a situation? I believe that the steps taken which are illustrated in the paper I refer to, could also be utilised to improve a selfish (but not necessarily dark triad) culture.

Here is the link to the research I mention.
