Game changer Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix since 2020, has pushed the frontiers of innovation in entertainment. Recognized for his innovation and commitment to improving audience experiences since 2000, he led the movement in streaming services’ original content production that began with Netflix in 2013, and he continues to lead the industry’s evolution.

Sarandos was honored with UCLA Anderson’s 2024 Game Changer Award. In a conversation with Eagle Equity Partners’ CEO and Anderson board member Harry Sloan (J.D. ’71), Sarandos talked about what MBAs need to know if they want to work at the intersection of technology and entertainment. He said at Netflix, tech and entertainment were never rival cultures. “We always had a deep respect for the technology DNA in the studios … Figure out on what end of the continuum you want to work, and, more important, figure out the thing that you’re great at in it. While you’re young, try a lot of things. Figure out what you’re really good at, and you will get passionate about it.

In 2024, the Center for Media, Entertainment & Sports’ marquee event focused on the people shaping AI in the industry and influencing audiences, and how they create and lead in such a volatile environment. Learn more about the annual Pulse conference at UCLA Anderson:
