Wendy Oakes is an associate director of graduate programs, associate professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and the recipient of the Faculty Service Award.
From her auspicious career beginnings in middle school to her years of international research surrounding special education, Oakes is committed to serving the teachers who serve students and families. She has been president of two special-interest divisions in the Council of Exceptional Children: the Division for Research and the Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders.
Oakes has authored and co-authored over 100 publications and has been an invited speaker for multiple national and international conferences. Oakes’ work includes serving as an editor and peer reviewer for numerous journals, including the Journal of Applied School Psychology.
Believing that “We can do this better,” she works within teams of teachers to transform and impact special education and how it is delivered.
