In this video I do a motorway drive in a Citroen e-C4 and measure the driving efficiency and range. The vehicle is a 2021 Citroen e-C4 Shine Plus, with the 50kWh battery.
Electric vehicles are less efficient when driving at high speed, such as motorways & dual carriage ways, due to the increased wind resistance and no slowing down for corners, roundabouts, junctions etc, so no regeneration.
During this trip, which was a total of 5 hours of driving, I averaged 3.8mpkWh. This would give a total range of 175 miles from the 46kWh of usable capacity from the 50kWh battery.
As you can see from the video, I was mostly driving at 70mph or the traffic speed at the time. The heater was set to 19-20 degC all the time and I had my heated seat on too. The outside temperature was 7-14 degC. I made no effort to drive efficiently or to maximise the range. I tried to keep it real world. With a little bit of effort and reducing the speed a little, it would be possible to get over 4mpkWh, even in these temperatures.
