While in the Lake District, I really wanted to get out into the snowy hills so I decided to hike the Fairfield Horsehoe. As I mention in the video, I've done parts of this route before so navigating was straightforward but the path was completely obscured by snow, which led to me falling waist-deep into a bog concealed by deep snow. Despite that, I powered on into a relentless headwind and made it to the summit of Fairfield Peak.
On the other side of the horseshoe, the snow was much deeper and the wind seemed t get even worse which meant walking was slow and a real slog. I eventually made it out of the wind and back to Rydal, having gained a lot of experience of winter in the fells and with some important lessons learned :)
