Thomas is a postdoc researcher at the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands.

He did his PhD in patient-centered type 2 diabetes care, with the help of patient-reported outcomes and decision aids.

He studied speech therapy, health sciences, and epidemiology. Before his current position, Thomas was working at the epidemiology department of the University Medical Center in Groningen, which is also in the Netherlands, where he developed an e-learning platform about epidemiology and statistics for medical students.

At the Leiden University Medical Center, Thomas is currently working on a study about the role of time in the participation of patients with cancer in treatment decision-making.
