Pair this with our Yoga for Digestion video, a good diet, some spore based probiotics (link below) and say hello to better motility, metabolism, absorption and elimination. I cannot tout this as a cure for ailments. However, it may aid when dealing with such conditions as slow transit constipation, gas, ileocecal valve syndrom, SIBO, bloating, peristalsis, IBS, GERD, heartburn, acid reflux, loose bowels, hiatal hernia and others.
A key factor in digestion is relaxation. Make sure you can take the time for this video with a relaxed attitude and a cadence of slow steady breaths.

Some of the areas massaged are as follows:
-The ileocecal valve is a sphincter muscle located at the intersection of your small intestines and large intestines. It is right near your appendix and functions to open and close the passageway between your small bowel and your colon or large intestines. When the ileocecal valve is closed, food remains in your small intestines (small bowel) allowing your body further break down food and absorb nutrients. I
leocecal valve problems can happen from food allergies, parasites, emotional complexes, and structural problems in your lower thoracic spine that interfere with the nerves going to the valve. Even the way we chew our food and it's texture and quality can affect the ileocecal valve.

These factors can cause it to remain open or closed, which results in an imbalance in the digestive system and the rest of your body.
It's amazing what a little valve issue can do. Symptoms like joint pain, circulation problems, muscle aches and pains, stabbing low back pain, and whole body soreness can be associated with ICV problems. It's even been associated with sharp or dull headaches, migraines, chronic sinus infection, allergies, dark circles under the eyes. Loose bowels, colon syndromes, burning leg pain, asthma-like symptoms and general GI discomfort may also be caused by ileocecal valve dysfunction. Eventually is can lead to SIBO or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

-Your colon is the last major organ in your gastrointestinal tract. It plays a critical role in regulating the frequency and consistency of bowl movements. The major symptoms from dysfunction of the colon are constipation, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, distension and chronic gas or flatulence. Often, these symptoms come after eating a meal.
Bloating can be a result of the build-up of wastes in your body and massaging the area of the abdomen over the colon can reduce bloating. This goes right along with constipation.
Research published in the International Journal of Nursing Studies, states that abdominal massage can provide all-natural relief from troubling constipation and associated abdominal pain. What a relief!

When I think about getting my abs tones I don't think about abdominal massage but
the ability for your abdominal muscles to relax and contract can be helped with self massage.

Who should avoid abdominal massage:
Pregnant women or those with inflammation in the reproductive organs.
People with gallstones, kidney stones, calcium deposits in the bladder, hernias, stomach or duodenal ulcers or internal bleeding.
