The E30 M3 caused a sensation when it won the 24 hours of Nurburgring 5 times and the 24 hours of Spa 4 times while dominating Gruppe A racing. Then hitting the market with a gorgeous, bespoke interior years before anyone else could put something similar on the road.

Discovering, inventing? a new sweet spot of realistically-priced, championship-caliber sports cars that could comfortably run errands with an elegant interior that would impress just about anyone BMW releases an all-new E36 M3 which won the IMSA manufacturer's championship 3 seasons in a row.

Not done, BMW then delivered the stunning E46 M3, perhaps the high-water mark for the M3, for BMW and the industry at large.

The E90 (and 92/93) M3's featured the only V8 under a 3-series hood and is my personal favorite.

The F80 was a completely new direction for BMW and the M3, philosophically evolving to the current G80, a near 500 horsepower sensation in its own right.

The 2023 BMW M3 G80 has 473 horsepower.
G80 M3 BMW has an S58B30T0 6 cylinder with twin turbos.
