Hey Food Box HQ Family! Today we're unboxing, cooking, and taste testing Marley Spoon (also known as Martha & Marley Spoon).

Marley Spoon is Martha Stewart's meal kit. It was founded in 2014 and offers a wide range of recipes, from classics like spaghetti and meatballs to more exotic dishes like harissa-spiced chicken and Middle Eastern-style lamb burgers.

Having used Marley Spoon for years now, I have noticed that their meals tend to feel a little more "upscale" than many other meal kits I've tried. They tend to take a normal homestyle dish and make it a bit more fancy.

I found the recipes to be approachable but not super simple like some HelloFresh "Quick & Easy" recipes I've cooked in the past.

Though, one area where Marley Spoon and HelloFresh do overlap is that they both offer the ability to customize meals. For example, with some meals on my Marley Spoon menu I can upgrade and swap certain main meats and sides.

Marley Spoon has a limited marketplace for add-ons compared to some other meal kits I've tried. However, it's good for picking up some desserts and sides.

One thing Marley Spoon offers that I've never seen from other meal kits is their baked goods. You can add them into your box like a normal recipe and they'll send you all of the ingredients needed to make it. They often have things like muffins, cakes, and more.

In our box this week, we received the following meals:
- Provençal Chicken Rigatoni with Capers, Olives, and Spinach
- Sirloin Steak and Eggs with Chimichurri and Roasted Potatoes
- Chicken with Buttery Fig Pan Sauce and Arugula-Feta Salad

The Chicken with Buttery Fig Pan Sauce recipe is the one you can see us cook and taste test in the video. One thing to note—Marley Spoon sent us an email a few days before we received our box that said they needed to swap the figs for dates. At first I was a little worried but, as you can see in the video, the meal actually came out very well. In fact, it ended up being my favorite of the three that we got for the week.
