Comparing the DS 4 E-Tense with the Cupra Formentor is very much a test of the moment. After all, not so long ago DS and Cupra didn't exist as car brands in the way that they do today. Similarly, style-focused crossovers haven't been on the market for all that long – nor indeed have plug-in hybrids.

However, it is 2022 and if you're in the market for a style-focused crossover with a plug-in hybrid powertrain there's a good chance you might be considering either the DS or Formentor. So, how do they compare?

In this CarGurus UK review, Vicky Parrott puts the two cars head-to-head to answer precisely that question. Prices for the plug-in hybrid models of these cars start from around £38,000, for which you get a WLTP-cycle electric range of between 33 and 39 miles (think 25-30 miles in real-world driving) before the petrol engines kick in.
