--- VIDEO DESCRIPTION: Spelling: Silent Letters

Many words in English have silent letters. This means that you cannot hear them in the word, but they are important to remember when spelling them.
1. The silent T
The letter T can be silent when it appears in the middle of some words, such as listen and castle.

2. The silent K
When you see a word starting with K and the second is N, you never pronounce the K. Ex: Knock, Knit, Know and Knife.

3. The silent B
B is sometimes silent after the letter M, ex: climb, dumb and numb.

4. The silent G
When G comes before N you don't hear the G. Ex: foreign, sign and design.

5. The silent L
The L is sometimes silent before K or M as in the words, walk, talk, calm and palm.

6. The silent C
The letter C can sometimes be silent after S. Ex: Scent and scene.
