TONDO MANILA IS NOT A GIANT SLUM... it is a big local area full of more than two hundred barangays and a lot of community vibes.

Yes, this area of Manila has a tough reputation and certainly is somewhere that can be intense. But what I found out on this day after arriving at the port... is a wonderful community vibe. The barangays can be very cool to explore, and full of amazing people. Sometimes Tondo is mistaken by people for only crime and slums... but certainly that isn't how is should be represented. Don't get me wrong, there are slums around, I have been in some over the years. But this day walking around, and actually staying in Tondo certainly reminded me it is so much more than that.

An area in Manila known for its high crime in the past...

has a unique vibe to it now.
