The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated longstanding systemic inequities that have led to disproportionate health and economic impacts in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities. In this video, Dr. Alexandre White, a professor in the Department of Sociology at the Johns Hopkins University and in the Department of the History of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, explains the complex role that racism and race plays in medicine and public health ethical practice and how that history impacts modern perceptions of the healthcare system.
