During our Awareness Intervention session, we hear from renowned author and speaker Bryon Katie, who teaches us The Work, a method of self-inquiry she created, and Ariel Ganz, PhD, who shares the research behind The Work, with introductions from Ben Rolnik and Sage Robbins.

Dr. Ganz presents her research on two interventions, Date with Destiny with Tony Robbins and The School for The Work with Byron Katie, and the profound impacts they had on depression recovery and well-being. Afterwards, Robbins shares her personal experience with The Work and how’s its helped her through difficult times. Finally, Katie explains The Work to attendees as a way of identifying the cause of our suffering and walks the group through an exercise.

The Mental Healthcare Innovations Summit at Stanford Medicine brings together creators and action-oriented leaders across research, policy, government, funding, and mental health advocacy to build a cross-sector community and drive forward the powerful existing and emerging innovations in mental health to collectively reimagine what it is like to give and receive mental healthcare.

Byron Katie is an American speaker and author who teaches a method of self-inquiry known as “The Work of Byron Katie.” She is the founder of Byron Katie International, an organization that includes the School for the Work and Turnaround House in Ojai, California. Time magazine describes her as “a spiritual innovator for the 21st century.”

Ariel B. Ganz, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University in the Snyder Lab. Her research gives an academic lens to popular wellness practices to reveal clinically promising effective strategies for depression and well-being. She is a founding partner at Arben Ventures, investing in early-stage companies with global impact.

Sage Robbins is a philanthropist, speaker, former Canadian actress, and the wife of American author, coach, motivational speaker, and philanthropist Tony Robbins. Robbins works closely with her husband and often speaks at their seminars.

After a career in talent management & tech innovation, Benjamin Rolnik realized that his true passion lies in Salutogenic Medicine —the medicine of health and thriving. As the Director of Stanford’s Healthcare Innovation Lab, Ben has a mission to fix the broken healthcare system. He is leading an effort with Stanford scientists to bridge the gap between technology and medicine. Their goal is to transition the world from healthcare 1.5 to healthcare 2.0 by providing breakthrough innovations that make personalized, precision healthcare an affordable reality for all people across the globe. He is also a founding partner at Arben Ventures.
