In the first episode, Trevor meets Sarah Pender. Charismatic and educated, she was once labelled America's most wanted woman and has now spent more time in solitary confinement than any other female offender in Indiana. Desiree Hancock robbed a bank at gun point. She talks freely about relationships inside and how she has become a lesbian since her incarceration. Paula McIntosh has just arrived at Rockville and breaks down as she talks about her four children. Martha Search is soon to be released after serving 20 years for murder. She is excited about using a mobile phone, sending her first email and finally sleeping in a bed of her own.
