I review the Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 OFF ROAD truck. I talk about all the awesome 4wd performance and components as well as explain why this mid sized truck is awesome off road. I get under the truck and show the off road features and capabilities from a mechanics perspective and give my opinion as a heavy duty mechanic whether or not this Tacoma truck is worth it and if you should buy it.


What is going on guys today we have a guest on the channel and it is this beautiful 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD off road truck. I love this truck and I was very excited to review this truck and see if it was actually any good off road! So in this video I go over all the cool off road components and explain how they work and why each off road component is important for off road performance.

first off all the TRD off road package comes standard with a locking rear differential which is amazing for off road. the TRD sport package comes only with a LSD so this is a big upgrade for off road performance

next this truck comes with off road tuned Bilstein shocks giving this Tacoma an awesome off road ride and comfort which is exactly what you want.

the gearing on this truck is an aggressive 3.91 gearing, meaning that you'll have plenty of torque being delivered to your wheels in 4wd especially when you are in 4wd low giving the truck a 36:1 final drive ratio. excellent for rock crawling and off road trails!

this truck has added skid plates for protecting the underside of truck when in deep ruts or mud. this truck also does not come with a front splitter and this will add much needed ground clearance when in snow.

the v6 engine delivers great power when needed and can even tow up to 6,800 lbs which is great for towing some toys around!

this Tacoma with the TRD OFF road package come with lots of electronic off road features. including MTS (multi-terrain select) and my favourite is the crawl option.

the crawl option on these trucks is a really cool system that basically forced all wheels to turn very slowly and controlled and can get the truck out of basically any situation which is very cool!

so as you guys can see this Toyota Tacoma TRD off road is a very capable unit and I can't wait to show you guys my off road footage. the truck did much better then I thought it would!
