Why Coronaviruses mutate?
Why RNA viruses mutate more than DNA virus?

The Humans Evolved, the plants evolved, all living things evolved on this Earth. Its a process of natural selection.

Coronaviruses are RNA viruses meaning that their genetic material is encoded in RNA, not DNA.

RNA is however an unstable molecule. RNA viruses don't have a built in proof reading step in their replication as do DNA viruses.

When there is no proofreading, mistakes in copying RNA happen frequently.
And the host cells do not correct these mistakes.

That's why, coronavirus mutated and produced new strains:
B - 117, N501Y strains.
