The process of writing a research proposal for a postdoctoral fellowship application, as is often done by PhD students, is explained. Such proposals are needed by the Humboldt, Fulbright, JSPS, Banting, Swiss national and many other foundations which provide grants for graduate students who want to do postdoctoral research.
