DESCRIPTION OF SURAH AL FATIHAH:
Surah Al-Fatihah, also known as "The Opening", is the first chapter (surah) of the Quran. It is considered the 'greatest surah' and is seen as a precise table of contents of the Qur'anic message. Some scholars have stated that this chapter is a summary of the whole Quran.
The Surah consists of seven verses which are a prayer for guidance and mercy. It is recited in Muslim obligatory and voluntary prayers, known as salah.
The Surah can be divided into two parts:
1. The first three verses revolve around four attributes of Allah: He is the Lord, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Master/King. These attributes summarize the principles through which we understand the actions Allah takes at every stage of our existence.
2. The second half of the Surah highlights our relationship with Allah and defines this through two categories. The first category defines the actions we should undertake both outwardly and inwardly. The second category expands on the first by enhancing the definition of worshiping Allah and what our reliance should look like.
Al-Fatihah is a prayer, a dialogue between the abd (slave) and his Rabb, the Creator of everything. It's a comprehensive surah that encompasses all the themes of the Quran.
